Travelling abroad with two teams was a first for the Ghajnsielem Redcoats. Having nine games in three days represented a great challenge as well. With cooperation from Morena Bertoldi, President of Friul’81 Softball Club, the organiser of the tournament, none of games clashed.

So coaches Steve Ellis and Joseph Scicluna, who were responsible for the U12s, were able to attend the games of the U15s as well. Coaches Dominique Humphrey, Estelle Scicluna and Ilena Buttigieg worked very well together during the pre-game warm ups, the game itself and the post game cool down. Without their contribution it would have been impossible to manage the U15 team during such a demanding tournament.

The hard work was not limited to the nine games played in Italy. The efforts that went into the preparation of each team, with morning and afternoon practices in the scorching sun was significant. Over the five weeks prior to the trip the players of both teams improved tremendously. They benefited from having multiple sessions per week and from the intensity of each session.
