BASEBALL INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE – GAME 2

Despite suffering another loss the U15 baseball team of the Ghajnsielem Redcoats had a much improved performance against the league favourites Mellieha Grand Slammers. Pitchers Nicholas Falzon, Neil Said, and Miguel Fenech are gradually gaining confidence and experience with every game they play. Jeremy Grech had a nice double in the second inning and scored the first run, whereas Gianfranco Gatt also had a positive performance at the plate putting the ball three times in play with a run batted in. Andrew Dimech had two walks and scored a run. Isaac Azzopardi made a nice defensive play on a hard hit ground ball to get the assist on a throw to 1st base for the out. It was always going to be difficult for the Redcoats against the experienced and well-organised Mellieha team. The Redcoats are participating in the U15 baseball league for the first time. Next up for the Redcoats is a game against the Luxol Mustangs on May 6 at the Marsa Sports Complex.
