It is not surprising that the visitors are keen to return to Gozo to add to the wonderful memories they already have of this most beautiful island
SIZZLING FASTPITCH was not only about softball, the itinerary of the visiting teams included plenty of excursions in an effort to ensure that their stay on the island was a most memorable one. The two teams went swimming at Ramla Bay and Xlendi Bay on separate mornings. They also had a thoroughly enjoyable walkabout in Victoria, which included a tour of the old Citadel. The group also visited Mdina and Valletta on their final day.
However, the highlight of their vacation was certainly the half day cruise around Gozo on the Barbarossa. For this boat trip the Dutch teams were joined by the members of the Għajnsielem Redcoats. The cruise started from Mgarr Harbour and turned south past Xatt L-Ahmar and stopped at the Mgarr ix-Xini inlet where By The Sea, with Brad Pitt and Angelie Jolie, was shot. The boat then took the group to Dwejra, where an early episode of Game of Thrones was shot, behind Fungus Rock. The Barbarossa anchored in the middle of Dwejra Bay so that they could swim. Most of those on board swam from the boat to a cave opposite the Fungus Rock. It was quite a lovely experience for everyone.

The next stop was at Dahlet Qorrot where the boat anchored again to allow the players and their coaches to take a dip in the lovely and warm sea that surrounds Gozo. It was then time for a snack as the Barbarossa headed towards Blue Lagoon in Comino. Once again nobody on board could resist not jumping in the crystal clear water between Comino and Cominotto. The sun setting over Gozo provided a great photo opportunity and a truly blissful experience for everyone. It was dark when the boat returned to Mgarr Harbour with the visitors quite grateful for the wonderful experience they were able to enjoy together with their hosts.
It is not surprising that the visitors are keen to return to Gozo to add to the wonderful memories they already have of this most beautiful island.
