Redcoats Basketball under the guidance of former Maltese national basketball team coach, Bruno di Pietrantonio, started practicing on January 27 at the Gozo Sports Complex. The sessions are open for boys and girls aged 7 to 14 years old. The support of the Gozo Sports Board as well as that of the Gozo Sports Complex were instrumental to make this possible.

The primary objective of this program is to offer boys and girls the opportunity to practice a sport if they are inactive and to those who already play a sport to be involved in a second or third sport. Practicing more than one sport is ideal for children as it helps in their physical and mental development. Another equally important objective is to try to re-introduce the beautiful game of basketball to Gozo.

The response was very encouraging as eleven players attended the first session. Coach Bruno di Pietrantonio is assisted by Joseph Scicluna and Anthony Mario Bajada. Sessions are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30pm till 6:45pm at the Gozo Sports Complex.
