An outstanding achievement for the Redcoats who are keen on helping young boys and girls reach their natural athletic potential – to be the best that they can be.
The ACTIVE START – YOUNG MULTISPORT ATHLETES program of the Ghajnsielem Redcoats received the approval of the Kunsill Malti Għall-Isport and as a result the program qualified to be part of the Skema Inizjattivi Sportivi 2014/15. This is an outstanding achievement for the Redcoats who are keen on helping young boys and girls reach their natural athletic potential – to be the best that they can be.
Through this initiative the Ghajnsielem Local Council will contribute half of the expenses involved in holding 20 sessions. The Parliamentary Secretary for Local Councils, and the Parliamentary Secretary for Research, Innovation, Youth and Sports, together with the Kunsill Malti Għall-Isport, will cover the other half of the expenses for the implementation and running of the program.
This program is designed specifically for boys and girls 4 to 6 years old with the primary objective to improve agility, balance and coordination through a variety of fun games. ACTIVE START is also intended to enhance the development of the brain function by having children think while they engage in physical activity. The aim is to improve physical coordination, gross motor skills, as well as posture and balance through structured and unstructured free play. This programme will also help children to build self-confidence, social skills, emotional control, and imagination while reducing stress and improving sleep.
Those interested in enrolling their children in the program should contact Joseph Scicluna on [email protected] or 99429422.
