CHRISTMAS PARTY FOR THE YOUNG REDCOATS

ACTIVE START helps participants to learn the fundamental movement skills such as throwing, catching, kicking, jumping, hopping and running, that would enable them to learn fundamental sports skills, and play any sport, later on in their life.

On Saturday, December 13, following another fun-filled ACTIVE START session, our young multisport athletes had their Christmas party at the Universal Sports Restaurant.

Active Start coordinator, Joseph Scicluna, had the opportunity to thank the several parents who accompanied their children for trusting the Redcoats to provide a head start in sports to their children. He went on to explain that the primary objective of ACTIVE START is to help the participants to develop physical literacy, to learn the fundamental movement skills such as throwing, catching, kicking, jumping, hopping and running that would enable them to learn fundamental sports skills, and play any sport, later on in their life. This is achieved by playing all sort of fun games rather than specialising in a single sport.

At the end of the party the children had the opportunity to have a photo with current Universal Sports Restaurant resident, Mr Santa Clause. The next session is scheduled for Saturday, December 20, indoors, at the Gozo Sports Complex from 1pm till 2pm. This will conclude the ACTIVE START Autumn programme with a session of gymnastics.
