Congratulations to our Redcoats especially to Alicia Said along with Annabel Said and their parents for their great effort to make this fundraising activity such a resounding success.
The Fundraising Committee of the Ghajnsielem Redcoats, made up of seven members of the youth team have been very active since the group was formed during the Christmas holidays in an effort to start organising activities to raise funds for their Club.
In early January the Fundraising Committee held a Pasta & Wine evening at the ClubHouse. In February they organised a Costume Party at Lucky Jacks. For Easter they decided to have a Bake Sale to coincide with the Easter Egg Hunt. The baking and pastry decorating skills of Alicia Said came into great use as the young Redcoat took charge and did most of the work with the help of other members of the committee.
When the day of the Bake Sale came everything turned out really well. A stand was set up in front of the Ghajnsielem playing field right at the heart of the Easter Egg Hunt event organised by Buzzy Kids in collaboration with the Ghajnsielem Local Council. The weather was perfect ensuring that the event was very well attended as the annual Easter Egg Hunt has become extremely popular in Gozo. Our Bake Sale stand benefited from the crowds at the event and the girls managed to sell most of the goodies they prepared along with all the tickets they had for the Easter Cake.
During the Bake Sale members of the Ghajnsielem Redcoats youth baseball squad also found time to visit Dun Karm Cassar and wish him a very Happy Easter on behalf of the rest of the team. They also presented him with the traditional ‘figolla’ which they baked and decorated themselves. WELL DONE boys and girls.
The winner of the Easter Cake lottery was none other than our Maria Grima, a member of the Redcoats youth team. The beautiful cake was also baked and decorated by Alicia Said.
