Cultural Trip to Malta

This activity concluded Redcoats Week ’13 – a series of events to celebrate the end of the 1st season of participation of the Redcoats  in the competitions organised by MABS.

On July 4, 2013 the Redcoats participated in L-Ewropa fuq ir-Roti, an information measure organised by the Malta-EU Steering and Action Committee (MEUSAC) in collaboration with the Department of Information.

This consisted of a bus tour to various EU funded or co-funded projects and initiatives in Malta. Mr. Franco Ciangura, vice-mayor Għajnsielem Local Council, made this cultural excursion possible.

This activity concluded Redcoats Week 2013 – a series of events to celebrate the end of the first season of participation of the Ghajnsielem Redcoats’  in the competitions organised by the Malta Baseball and Softball Association. Several members of the Redcoats youth teams, coaches and their parents went on this half-day tour.

The first stop was Mdina to visit the recently restored fortifications and Palazzo de Piro, also located within the medieval town of Mdina.

From the former capital of Malta the Redcoats went to Valletta. First stop in Valletta was “The Fortress Builders”. This was followed by the educational video ‘Valletta Living History’ at the Embassy.

The group had lunch at the Upper Barrakka Gardens while enjoying the views of the Grand Harbour and the Three Cities.

A group photo was taken in front of Castille Place before the Redcoats boarded the coach for their return trip to Cirkewwa to catch the ferry for Gozo. The boys and girls enjoyed the outing which the Redcoats hope to be able to do on an annual basis.
