IGETS AT GOZO COLLEGE MIDDLE SCHOOL

Cover MS 1

The Ghajnsielem Redcoats continued to work to increase awareness on Gender Equality by visiting schools in Gozo doing softball sessions for students as part of the Erasmus+ Sports: Small Collaborative Partnerships project, Inclusion & Gender Equality Through Softball (IGETS). On May 10, the Redcoats spent the morning with the Year 7 students of the Gozo College Middle School introducing batting and throwing to the boys and girls at the school.

Redcoats coaches Joseph Scicluna and Tara Henry where assisted by Marlene Saliba, a PE teacher at the Middle School and former softball player. The activity was a success as the students enjoyed the session while learning two important fundamental skills of the game. The Redcoats would like to thank the Head of School, Ms. Theresina Camilleri, and Assistant Head, Ms Maria Buttigieg, for the opportunity to introduce IGETS and softball to the students at the school.

Similar sessions will be held over the coming weeks at the Gozo College Secondary School.

IGETS is co-financed by the European Union. The Ghajnsielem Redcoats received assistance from the Ministry of Education and Employment through the Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Sport & Voluntary Organisations to meet its co-financing obligations.
