The next step for the Redcoats is to start participating in the events and competitions organised the Malta Basketball Association

For the second year in a row the Ghajnsielem Redcoats hosted Starlites Basketball at the Gozo Sports Complex in what was a mini-basket festival to close the season for both clubs. Starlites Basketball, under the leadership of Ivan Riolo, are national champions in several categories in the leagues organised by the Malta Basketball Association (MBA).

The U8 and the U10 of both clubs played half court games in which the Redcoats, just as they did last year and when they travelled to play against Hibernians Basketball,  performed really well and at times even dominated. The U12 Starlites girls team then took on the Redcoats boys in a full court game. This was an evenly balanced entertaining game. The gap between the two clubs was, however, evident when the U14s played each other.

The fact that at the U8 and U10 levels the Redcoats are very competitive against established clubs from Malta is a credit to the players as well as to the members of the coaching staff who work very hard to improve the fundamental skills of the players. The next step for the Ghajnsielem Redcoats is to start participating in the events and competitions of the MBA on a regular level. It is only in this manner that the young promising players of the club can continue to develop and achieve their full potential.
