REDCOATS LOSE TO MUSTANGS

If the players continue to show the commitment towards the game and determination to improve, the investment that is required to help them achieve their full potential will happen sooner rather than later

The Ghajnsielem Redcoats once again produced a very encouraging performance when they faced the Luxol Mustangs in the Women’s Fastpitch Softball Championship in Marsa this afternoon. Although the final score was a 10-15 win for the Mustangs, the Redcoats showed progress relative to their previous outing last month.

The starting pitcher for the Redcoats, Estelle Scicluna, had a very positive outing pitching 4 innings. She also did well with the bat, hitting an inside-the-park home run in the 2nd inning and batted in 3 runs. Denise Xuereb pitched two innings in relief and although her outing was not as good as the previous one she has much potential. Arianne Bezzina did really well playing at first base. Catcher Kacey Grima put in a solid three innings of hard work at a very difficult position. She was relieved by Rebecca Grech and Gianella Mallia who also played very well as catchers.

The Redcoats’ fastpitch softball team need to play more games in order for them to improve. It is also essential for the players to have regular sessions with professional foreign softball coaches. If the players continue to show the commitment towards the game and determination to improve, the investment that is required to help them achieve their full potential will happen sooner rather than later.

The Redcoats still need to play against the Mellieha Curves. The game is scheduled to be played in Gozo towards the end of May.
