It is only by playing at this level on a regular basis that the young Redcoats can fulfil their potential
The Ghajnsielem Redcoats basketball squad travelled to Malta this morning to participate in a practice session with the academy players of Hibernians Basketball. It was a great experience for our very promising young players who performed really well.
For the first part of the session the U/12, U/10 and U/8 players of the Redcoats practiced with their counterparts of Hibernians. During the second part of the session various 4 vs 4 and 5 vs 5 games were played between Ghajnsielem and Hibernians. The Redcoats impressed as they were more than a match for the more experienced Hibs. The coaching staff of the Redcoats were positively surprised to see their players holding their own against the more quoted opponents.
This was very encouraging for the Club as it demonstrates that thanks to the training that the players are receiving they are good enough to play against teams based in Malta. The question now is when will the Redcoats start to participate in the events organised by the Malta Basketball Association. It is only by playing at this level on a regular basis that the young Redcoats can fulfil their potential.
