The young Redcoats did extremely well given that they only started playing the sport four months ago. This may well be the start of something for basketball in Gozo.
This morning the Ghajnsielem Redcoats had their first encounter with organised basketball as Starlights Basketball Club, a member of the Malta Basketball Association, were in Gozo with their mini basketball players and youths.
There were fun games for our ACTIVE START participants as well as half court games for the U/8 and U/10 Redcoats against Starlights and also against the participants of Skola Sports, coached by Cynthia Saliba. The young Redcoats did extremely well given that they only started playing the sport four months ago. The older Redcoats then played against the U/12 and U/14 teams of Starlights who demonstrated why they are one of the leading basketball clubs in Malta. This was a tremendous experience for everyone associated with Redcoats Basketball. Technical Director, Bruno Di Pietrantonio, and coaches Anthony Mario Bajada and Joseph Scicluna, were extremely pleased with the performances of their players. Well done to all the players.
May we take this opportunity to congratulate Starlights Basketball Club for their excellent season, and thank Ivan Riolo for providing the opportunity for the Redcoats to experience MBA basketball. This may well be the start of something for basketball in Gozo.
